Production Mechanic

Job Summary 

American NTN Bearing Manufacturing Corporation is looking for a Production Mechanic. In this position, you will be responsible for repairing and/or rebuilding components and fabricating type change tools, fixtures, and covers for production equipment used in the manufacturing of automotive wheel bearings.

Responsibilities 

  • Investigate coolant leaks and repair accordingly 

  • Support machine maintenance program by inspecting and replacing major machine parts such as belts, pulleys, spindles, and motors 

  • Repair or rebuild motors and spindles 

  • Design/modify and fabricate/install covers, guards, fixtures, or type change parts by using tool room machines 

  • Create drawings on new or modified type change parts, tools, or fixtures 

  • Support the installation or overhaul of production equipment 

  • Follow all company rules and regulations related to environment, health, and safety 

  • Apply principles of 5S to production lines to ensure organization, cleanliness, and safety 

Skills and Abilities  

  • Possess a high level of mechanical aptitude 

  • Working knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and some electronics 

  • Perform maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed 

  • Aptitude to tell when something is wrong or likely to go wrong 

  • Strong working knowledge of arithmetic and geometry 

  • Ability to read machine drawings and part blueprints 

  • Capability to use Powered Industrial Trucks (forklift, motorized pallet jacks, and standups) 

  • General knowledge of material handling, manufacturing processes, and quality control systems 

  • Communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing 

  • Ability to use hand tools such as, but not limited to screw drivers, Allen keys, wrenches, pliers, concrete, etc.  

  • Ability to use machine tools such as, but not limited to drill press, band saw, and possibly lathe or milling machine 

  • Ability to use welding equipment such as Tig, Mig, and/or Gas 

Education and/or Experience  

  • Certificate or apprenticeship training in related field plus two or more years of work-related experience 

  • In lieu of formal training, five or more years of work-related experience required 

Physical Requirements  

  • Regularly required to stand and walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk and hear. 

  • Regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.    

  • Use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things 

  • Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects 

  • Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs 

  • Physicality to coordinate two or more limbs with your body, arms, and/or legs
